Third Time’s A Charm

Dogs Happy Story Posted Nov 10, 2020
It was with dismay that the team received little Maisie the Dachshund-mix back into the RSPCA shelter for the second time.

She is a popular breed, but these little designer dogs are not any easier to care for than other bigger breeds!

Maisie is an energetic little thing, with plenty of gas in the tank for limitless zoomies, chew-chew-chewing and general bounciness. It was going to take a special family to be able to give Maisie the stimulation and patience she needed to flourish.

Lucky for Maisie, her fur-ever family was not far away.

Having recently lost their sweet older dog, Mandy (also an RSPCA pet), Bec and Nick were heartbroken, but looking for a special someone to bring happiness back into their home.

During the COVID-19 emergency, they were both working from home full-time, and agreed it was the right moment to welcome a new addition into the family.

They headed to the RSPCA Brisbane Animal Care Campus at Wacol on a hot Sunday afternoon where they met Maisie - the amazing little pocket rocket!

They hit it off straight away; after 2 previous owners Maisie finally found her home.

Now she enjoys two walks a day, learning new tricks, playing with her next-door neighbour Bowie, destroying an endless supply of toys, and getting lots of cuddles!

In a short amount of time, Maisie has grown into an affectionate, clever and confident little dog with a family that loves her very much.

She even has her own Instagram page. You can follow her adventures here.
