COVID-19 RSPCA Qld Updates

Check out our frequently asked questions for more information on how RSPCA Queensland is continuing to support animals and our community.

• All RSPCA Adoption Centres are closed to the public. However, if you are interested in adopting head to rspcaqld.org.au/adopt and if you see an animal that you would like to adopt please complete the expression of interest form here. 
• Petbarns in Queensland will continue to adopt RSPCA cats, at this stage.
• RSPCA Ipswich Adoption Centre is now closed. Ipswich City Council is also closed - so stray pets will not be able to be dropped off at the Ipswich City Council pound. For all stray pets in Ipswich please call Ipswich City Council for collection advice (07) 3810 6666. If you see sick or injured animals please call our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). For more advice on lost or found pets read more here.
• RSPCA Op Shops: Bundaberg, Bundall, Gympie, Labrador, Robina, Rockhampton, Sherwood, North Tamborine and Toowoomba OPEN. Remaining outlets are temporarily closed.
• Eumundi Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre is closed. For all wildlife emergencies please call our 1300 ANIMAL hotline.

Opening hours may be subject to change due to the current global health crisis. Please phone your local store to for any updates for services and trading.

• RSPCA World for Pets Springwood (for grooming please phone our Springwood location to discuss booking options). Store open 9:00am - 5:30pm (Monday - Friday), 9am - 5pm (Saturday - Sunday).
• RSPCA World for Pets Wacol. Store open 9am - 6pm (Monday to Sunday). Order all of your pet needs in our online shop. 
• RSPCA Black Cat Cafe open Monday to Saturday (8am-2pm, hot food served till 1:30pm). Closed Sunday.

Although we remain committed to looking after all of the animals in our care, from March 27 no animals can be admitted into our care from the public, this includes wildlife.

• All RSPCA Adoption Centres are closed to the public. However, if you are interested in adopting head to rspcaqld.org.au/adopt and if you see an animal that you would like to adopt please complete the expression of interest form here.
• Our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline (1300 ANIMAL) remains OPEN. Call us about injured or sick animals you find. Our Animal Ambulances will still be on the road and operating to respond to emergencies.
• Our Inspectorate will still be on the road responding to welfare concerns. Report animal cruelty here.
• Our Wildlife Hospital in Wacol is still be operating to treat injured and sick wildlife that arrive via our Animal Ambulances, Eumundi is closed to members of the public.
• If you have a sick pet, contact your vet.
• If you have a sick RSPCA foster pet, contact us on 1300 ANIMAL so we can walk you through the next steps over the phone. We will be providing support via video link with our veterinarians but will provide in-house care when necessary.
• If you need pet behaviour advice, talk to our RSPCA School for Dogs team and check out their classes online - all classes are now offered online.
• Some of our Boarding services will continue to operate: 
  - We have special arrangements for collection to protect you and our staff.
  - You will need to arrange for a friend to collect your pet if you have travelled overseas or been in contact with a sick person.
  - You are still able to use our boarding service if you are too sick to care for your pet or are hospitalised, please contact us for assistance so your pets can receive care – 1300 ANIMAL.

Our priority will always be helping animals in need. As the situation for COVID-19 continues to unfold, we’ll still do everything we can to be there for pets and wildlife. Our animal rescuers in our Animal Ambulances and our Inspectorate will carry on with their vital work. Visit our website daily to continue to access our latest advice. Our 24/7 Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL will remain operating from a virtual platform to answer your calls. We will still also have vets and other animal care staff in our centres to care for animals on site. 

As this uncertain situation progresses, we're expecting extra strain to be put on our charity as a whole as our volunteers are unable to work and public visitation to our retail outlets and Adoption Centres is restricted. Sadly, we also expect to lose many of our vital donations as a result of our events being cancelled.

As a charity, we've relied on the generosity of kind supporters to enable us to do the work that we do. Now, more than ever, we need your help. The truth is, without your donations, the long term future for the RSPCA is uncertain.
