Reopening Saturday 27th June 2020

We’re pleased to announce our RSPCA shelters across Queensland will be reopening from Saturday June 27, please find out more how the Adoption Journey has changed. Of course, this means we will also be adhering to government regulations with visitor number limit to 20 people at any one time, social distancing and hygiene practices. So please bear with us and our new way of operating. Our call centre is still open for animal rescue and cruelty complaints, please call 1300 ANIMAL (264 625).

The RSPCA Cairns Animal Care Centre rescues and re-homes animals from across the far north areas of Queensland. Animals come to the shelter from as far away at Townsville, Torres Strait, Weipa and Cooktown, and are rehomed to Cairns and surrounds.

In addition to adoptions we also offer boarding facilities for dogs cats, and a range of small animals. 

Our boarding facilities are ideally located just 10 minutes drive from the Cairns international airport, and operate 7 days per week from 10:00am – 5pm for just $27 per dog, per day (any size) incl. food, bedding and exercise.  Cat or kitten boarding costs $22 per day for a cat condo and $25 per day for the cat penthouse incl. food, bedding and exercise. Check out of pets is 12 Noon or additional charges apply.  Please note there will be a surcharge of $10 per day per animal for public holidays. No refunds on early checkouts or transfer and animals must be up to date with vaccinations or given at least two weeks prior to boarding (no exceptions). All peak periods Xmas/ New Year, Easter, School Holidays to be paid in full at time of booking (other periods require 50% payment at time of booking).
