Michael Bowers Tribute

Posted Jan 27, 2021
We at RSPCA Queensland are deeply saddened by the passing of Board Member Michael Bowers.

Michael was passionate about the impact of the RSPCA in bringing joy to people’s lives through the love and care of animals and provided wonderful insight and wisdom to help shape the RSPCA into what it is today.

Last year Michael welcomed a new companion into his life. “After Sam our border collie passed after 18 wonderful years, the RSPCA team stepped into action during COVID. Together all of the RSPCA team changed our lives by introducing us to Mollie after she was abandoned. So many smiles and joy! This of course is something that happens every day in Qld and I love being a small part of that.”

Michael Bowers joined the RSPCA Qld board in November 2017 after a wide ranging career in law, sports administration, manufacturing, IT, property and more recently retirement and aged care industries.

Brisbane born and bred, Michael was educated at Nudgee College. His special areas of interest included legal matters, property, governance, project delivery and creating relationships for mutual benefit.

Michael was also a member of the AICD and sat on several other Boards. Michael was CEO of Southern Cross Care, a Queensland based retirement and aged care provider that employs 900 plus staff and operates out of 11 locations mainly in the South East of Qld.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael’s family and friends during this difficult time.
