We Love our Volunteers!

Posted May 16, 2023
Over 2,000 incredible volunteers call RSPCA Queensland their second. See how you can help this National Volunteer Week.

Hear what some of our incredible volunteers have to say about donating their time at the RSPCA:

Volunteers Needed!

Jill & Sue – Laundry Volunteers
Both Jill and Sue volunteer at the RSPCA in our Laundry. As you can imagine, when you’re caring for hundreds of animals, there are hundreds of blankets, towels and bedding to be washed every day and we couldn’t be more grateful for their support!

Sue said she loves meeting people from “so many different socioeconomic areas and hearing their stories. I think we all feel that we do our bit together.”

Jill said, “I love it. That's why I come here, because I love it.”

We’d like to take a moment to remember Jill, after her sudden passing. Thank you for your incredible contribution to RSPCA Queensland over the past 10 years Jill. We are deeply saddened, and our thoughts are with your family, friends, and all who knew your infectious personality at the RSPCA. You will forever be in ours and the animals’ hearts.

José – Rescue Unit
José helps out driving our rescue unit and collecting sick and injured animals that need treatment in our RSPCA hospitals.

José said, “I always wanted to do it. And I thought, if there's something I can do to help out the animals, something a little bit different, like an animal rescue and an animal ambulance, why not?”

Helen, Janet and Jessica - Animal Care
Helen, Janet and Jessica, all help by volunteering with our animals and assisting with laundry duties at our Toowoomba RSPCA.

Jessica said, “I started out as part of the work for the Dole program, did six months, and then once the six months was over, I really enjoyed being here. I got to pick and choose my own hours and it just sort of stuck around.”

John – Dog Adoptions
Everyday hundreds of animals in our care across the state need walks, kennels cleaned, and quality time with people. John is one of our invaluable volunteers who assists with cleaning and caring for our dogs available to adopt.
